PHP Security & Modernization

Legacy PHP.
Lower risk.
Stronger future.

Keep the application your business depends on—without carrying unnecessary security risk. We assess older PHP codebases, fix what matters, and modernize in measured steps. AI-assisted when useful, engineer-reviewed throughout.

Why it matters

Old software can quietly become new risk.

Unsupported runtimes, aging dependencies and undocumented integrations can make security fixes harder to ship. We help you understand the actual exposure and create a realistic plan.

See the official PHP support lifecycle
01

Outdated runtimes and packages

Unsupported PHP branches and unpatched dependencies can leave known weaknesses unresolved.

02

Unclear application exposure

Legacy custom code may lack tests, documentation and a repeatable assessment process.

03

High-risk release cycles

Changes become harder when no one is confident what a patch might affect.

04

Modernization without a roadmap

A complete rewrite may add more risk than a phased upgrade of the existing application.

What we deliver

Security work with practical outcomes.

Start with an assessment, solve the highest-impact issues, then modernize only where it creates measurable value.

01 / Assess

PHP security assessment

Review your authorized codebase and environment for dependency exposure, insecure patterns, configuration risks and upgrade blockers.

Typical deliverables
  • Runtime and dependency inventory
  • Static analysis and advisory checks
  • Prioritized findings with evidence
  • Remediation scope and estimated effort
02 / Remediate

Vulnerability remediation

Resolve validated findings with controlled code and dependency changes, regression tests and engineer review.

Typical deliverables
  • Patch plan and change documentation
  • Tested changes or reviewed pull requests
  • Deployment and rollback recommendations
  • Follow-up verification
03 / Modernize

PHP & framework upgrades

Move older applications toward supported runtimes and maintainable frameworks without unnecessary rewrites.

Typical deliverables
  • PHP compatibility and upgrade assessment
  • Laravel / Symfony / CodeIgniter planning
  • Incremental code and dependency refactoring
  • Staging, regression and handover support
04 / Maintain

Ongoing application maintenance

Keep security and software lifecycle work from becoming the backlog nobody owns.

Typical deliverables
  • Scheduled dependency and version reviews
  • Maintenance planning and patch support
  • Security findings register
  • Optional SLA and support retainer
Our process

Understand. Prioritize. Fix. Verify.

A deliberate process that protects production systems while getting critical work moving.

01

Scope & authorize

Confirm the application, access boundaries, goals and what may be tested. Start with approved evidence and read-only access where feasible.

Access by agreement
02

Assess & prioritize

Review runtime versions, dependencies, code patterns and architecture. Validate findings before declaring them vulnerabilities.

Evidence-driven findings
03

Patch & test

Prepare focused updates and regression checks in an isolated environment. Use AI to assist analysis and drafting where appropriate.

Engineer-reviewed fixes
04

Approve & hand over

Provide reviewable changes, test evidence, release recommendations and rollback planning. Customer approval precedes deployment.

No unapproved production changes
Where AI fits

AI can accelerate the work. It doesn't replace verification.

We use established security tools and engineering judgment first. AI can help explain complex findings, suggest changes and draft tests—but not every finding is real, and no patch is safe without validation.

  • Known dependency advisories and static analysis
  • AI-assisted triage and remediation suggestions
  • Test and compatibility verification
  • Human review and explicit release approval

A self-service AI security dashboard and automatic pull-request workflow are future possibilities, not features offered on this page today.

Simple, upfront starting prices

Know the starting price before we talk.

Start with a focused assessment, a defined remediation sprint, or monthly application care. Prices below are in USD and cover the stated starting scope; we confirm any expanded scope in writing before work begins.

ONGOING CARE · MONTHLY

Managed PHP Maintenance

From$299/ month

Stay ahead of aging packages and PHP lifecycle changes with a predictable maintenance routine.

  • One application and monthly review
  • Dependency and lifecycle tracking
  • Up to 2 support hours per month

Unused hours do not roll over. Incident response, emergencies and major upgrades are separate.

All prices are proposed introductory rates in USD, subject to acceptance and an agreed statement of work. No payment is collected on this page. The health check is a limited assessment; it does not certify that an application is vulnerability-free.

FAQ

Questions worth asking before we start.

Do we need to replace our PHP application?
Usually not as a first step. We assess support status, dependencies, custom code and business constraints, then recommend staged updates or targeted refactoring where practical. A rewrite is considered only when justified.
Can you scan our website without code access?
A public-facing website provides only limited visibility. A meaningful application assessment typically requires permission, relevant source code, dependency manifests and environment details. We do not run intrusive testing without written authorization.
Does AI automatically patch our production code?
No. AI may assist code analysis, patch drafting and regression-test suggestions. Engineers must validate findings and changes, and any production deployment requires an agreed approval and release process.
What access do you need?
It depends on scope. An initial review can often start with read-only repository access, package manifests and sanitized configuration details. Some remediation or integration testing needs additional temporary access, agreed separately. Never send passwords through this form.
Which PHP versions and frameworks can you review?
We can discuss PHP 5.x, 7.x and 8.x applications and common frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony and CodeIgniter, as well as custom PHP codebases. Exact feasibility and target versions depend on the application and current PHP support lifecycle.
Can this help with SOC 2, PCI DSS or HIPAA?
We can provide scoped technical findings and remediation evidence that may support your security controls. Our engagement is not a certification, legal opinion or guarantee of compliance. Formal compliance needs depend on your organization and assessor.
Are the prices fixed?
The $349 health check is a limited, fixed-scope offering for one application when required access is available. Remediation starts at $1,500 per project and maintenance starts at $299/month under a defined support allowance. Expanded scope is quoted and agreed in writing.
Is the 30-minute consultation free?
Yes. The introductory call is free and intended to understand your goals and recommend a sensible first step. We will not request credentials or perform security testing during the call.
Who owns the fixes and deliverables?
Ownership and licensing terms are documented in the engagement agreement. You retain ownership of your existing code; the agreement clarifies the rights to any newly created work, tools and third-party dependencies.
